5 - 10 min (wait time) | 2 min prep

 Serves 1 (1 cup of tea)

  1. Place dried or fresh catnip in a teacup or mug.
  2. Add Lemon Balm, Mint leaves or Chamomile sprig - optional.
  3. Pour hot, not boiling, water over catnip and other leaves.
  4. Cover and wait for 5 - 10 minutes. (The longer you wait the stronger the taste.)
  5. Strain through a tea-strainer into another cup, if desired.
  6. Sweeten with honey - optional.
  7. Add slice of lemon or a little lemon juice - optional.

 

Catnip tea is known for its soothing and calming properties.  Many people have a cup of Catnip tea before bed-time and they believe it helps them to have a good nights sleep.

Catnip is most potent just before flowering, but you can harvest and use it at any time.  The leaves and flowers can be used.
